Actor Art Evans, Best Known for Die Hard 2, Passes Away at 82!
At the age of 82, actor Art Evans, who was most recognized for his parts in Die Hard 2 and A Soldier's Story, died on December 21. According to a representative, Evans passed away quietly while sleeping with his family by his side.
 
“We are heartbroken to share that Art has passed away,” his wife, Babe Evans, shared in a statement to a daily. “Please respect our privacy at this time. A memorial will be held for friends and family to attend at a later date. Thank you.”
 
Evans' portrayal of Leslie Barnes in Die Hard 2 brought him enormous fame. In the action-packed movie, Barnes, who worked in an air traffic control tower, teamed up with Bruce Willis’s character, John McClane, to stop a bunch of terrorists. His performance was notable for its depth and ferocity.

Evans played a key part in the drama A Soldier's Story in 1984. He costarred with Adolph Caesar and Denzel Washington as Private James Wilkie. The Norman Jewison-directed movie received high praise from critics.
 
Evans also starred in a number of well-known movies, such as Tales from the Hood, Bitter Harvest, Fright Night, School Daze, Christine, Big Time, Youngblood, National Lampoon's Class Reunion, and Metro. He portrayed the first victim of the demonic automobile in the title role of Christine (1983), one of his first jobs to receive credit.

In Berkeley, California, on March 27, 1942, Arthur James Evans was born. His acting career started in his hometown at Frank Silvera's Theater of Being. One of his first notable roles was in the theatrical drama The Amen Corner, which was brought to Broadway in 1965.

Evans is survived by his wife, Babe Evans, and his son, Ogadae.
