It was the first to reveal that Priyanka Chopra, the Desi Girl, will be returning to Bollywood with Mahesh Babu and SS Rajamouli's next project. In the meantime, Priyanka recently discussed in an interview if she believes movie theaters will withstand the OTT trend, adding, "There’s nothing quite like entering a darkened theatre and watching a movie, not just with friends and family, but with a room full of strangers."
Priyanka Chopra expressed her opinions on the ongoing discussion over cinemas' viability in the face of the growth of over-the-top (OTT) platforms in a recent media chat.
The 42-year-old actress stated that she thinks both big-screen and over-the-top (OTT) platforms are beneficial, pointing out that viewers are lucky to always have access to entertainment in a variety of formats.
Chopra lauded the special allure of the "big screen experience," emphasizing the unmatched ambiance of a dimly lit theater where moviegoers, including complete strangers, form a bond via the shared experience. She asserted that the charm of movie theaters is unlikely to diminish, stressing that their size, acoustics, and immersive atmosphere make them unique.
Chopra, who recently co-produced the Marathi film Paani, noted that technological developments are improving the movie experience from a technical standpoint.
She listed technological advancements like 3D, IMAX, and immersive audio as reasons why movie theaters continue to be an alluring attraction for viewers.
