NEWS RATING
In the 2000s, popular singer Palash Sen—best known for his independent band Euphoria—crooned a number of soulful songs that are still in high demand among music enthusiasts. Among Sen's well-known compositions are Kabhi Aana Tu Meri Gali, Maaeri, Dhoom Pichak Dhoom, Ab Na Ja, and Raja Rani.

The singer recently discussed the present state of young musicians' lives and the politics that are going on in the music industry.

Palash Sen acknowledged that politics are pervasive in the music business in a recent media talk. Sen stated that although indie music has been growing, upcoming musicians don't want to end up like slaves to the system.

The Maaeri singer claimed that when asked if young musicians have spoken their opinions about the current state of affairs, they were afraid to criticize the government for fear that it would damage their careers.

"Of course, but they cannot speak. People are scared. Somebody in control can turn around and say tu zyada bol raha hai tujhe kaam nahi dunga (...you are talking so much, you won't get work anymore)," Sen revealed.

Palash Sen stated that the music and film sectors are separate and referred to the US as a "better" place for artists. The 58-year-old singer went on to say that rather than using musicians as "slaves" to write songs, the film business should purchase their music.

In the past, the artist featured actors in his music videos, including Vidya Balan and Rimi Sen.
