Troye Sivan, The Teskey Brothers, and Sia win big at APRA Awards 2024!
The annual APRA awards were held on May 1st and were hosted by APRA AMCOS, Australia's main music rights management organization. The event celebrated the country's lasting musical talent. The main prizes of the evening were won by Troye Sivan, The Teskey Brothers, Sia, and other performers at this year's event, which was hosted in Sydney's CBD.
With Rush, a song from his third studio album Something to Give Each Other, the Australian pop musician took home the peer-voted trophy, the highest prize at the APRAs. Co-writer of the song Styalz Fuego revealed as he accepted the award, “As a creative when I work with an artist that I'm already a fan of, I think like ‘don’t f*** this up.’ It's always like, I imagine this song could ruin their careers.’
He further added, “I’m so happy that with Troye we did something that people ended up loving.”
Sivan received Grammy nominations for the song in two additional categories: Best Music Video and Best Pop Dance Recording.
With their ARIA No. 1 album The Winding Way, blues group The Teskey Brothers won the aforementioned prize. The writers' and publishers' association, APRA, casts votes for the prestigious prize. ARIA Awards and a Rolling Stone Australia Award have also been given to the song.
Sia was declared the winner in the aforementioned category for Unstoppable this year, but she had previously dominated the list, taking home the titles for Let's Love in 2022, Cheap Thrills in 2018, 2019, and 2020.
Meanwhile, Parkway Drive, Ziggy Alberts, Birds of Tokyo, Casey Barnes, Jason Derulo, ONEFOUR, and many more amazing artists were recognized at the 2024 APRAs.
