Garfield acknowledged that because he had previously denied a presence on No Way Home, which proved to be a calculated deception, fans might not believe him. In response to the casting rumors, he told a tabloid, saying, "I’m gonna disappoint you. Yeah, no. But I know no one’s gonna trust anything I say from now on."
Garfield, who co-starred with Emma Stone in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and its 2014 follow-up, has previously stated that he would love to reprise the role if the film could contribute something new, significant, and inventive that enhanced the character's legacy.
In the meantime, Tom Holland and Zendaya's untitled Spider-Man 4 is scheduled for release on July 24, 2026. Jeff Nathanson wrote the script, and Destin Daniel Cretton will direct it. This summer, the production will start.
