NEWS RATING
Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt is mourning the loss of his mother, Jane Etta Pitt, who has passed away at the age of 84. The news was confirmed by Pitt's niece, Sydney Pitt, in a deeply moving tribute shared on social media, sparking an outpouring of condolences from fans and the entertainment world.

Jane Etta Pitt, a retired school counselor from Springfield, Missouri, was known as the "heart of the family" and an emotional anchor for her three children: Brad, Doug, and Julie. While she largely remained out of the public eye, she was a constant and loving presence in her children's lives. She was occasionally seen accompanying Brad on the red carpet, including at the 2012 Academy Awards, where she exuded warmth and a humble grace.

A Heartfelt Tribute from Sydney Pitt

Brad Pitt's niece, Sydney Pitt (the daughter of his younger brother, Doug Pitt), shared a touching tribute on Instagram, painting a picture of a grandmother who was full of life, kindness, and love. Alongside a series of cherished family photos, Sydney wrote:

"My sweet Grammy, Jane Etta, we were not ready for you to go yet but knowing you are finally free to sing, dance, and paint again makes it a tad easier. If you knew Grammy, you knew she had the biggest heart. She cared deeply for everyone and everything, no questions asked."

Sydney's tribute beautifully recalled Jane's selfless and joyful spirit, reminiscing about the special days they shared, which often included banana splits for breakfast, playing board games, and riding rollercoasters. She also credited her grandmother with teaching her how to be strong, to lead with kindness, and to find joy in the smallest things.

A Legacy of Love and Philanthropy

While Brad Pitt himself has not yet released a public statement, his close relationship with his mother was evident in his recent public appearances. At a special screening for his latest film, "F1," in June, Pitt gave a heartfelt shout-out to his mom on live television, telling an anchor, "I gotta say hi to my mom because she watches you every morning. To Jane Pitt. Love you, Mom."

The Pitt family’s love and tribute to Jane extend beyond personal memories. In 2009, Brad and his siblings collectively donated $1 million to a Missouri hospital to open a new wing named in her honor—the Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center. The center was established to bring the region's first pediatric oncologist and hematologist on staff, a powerful testament to the family's deep respect for their mother and her legacy of care.

Jane Etta Pitt is survived by her husband of over 60 years, William, her three children, and 14 grandchildren. Her passing marks a profound loss for the Pitt family, leaving behind a legacy of immense love, generosity, and kindness that touched everyone who knew her.
