NEWS RATING
The Mumbai Police have launched legal action against the unapproved online release of Vicky Kaushal's movie Chhaava. The CEO of August Entertainment Pvt Ltd, an anti-piracy organization chosen by Maddock Films Pvt Ltd, Shri Rajat Rahul Haksar, filed a complaint, which prompted this move.

According to the agency, 1,818 internet URLs have been used to unlawfully distribute the movie. Due to extensive online piracy, Chhaava, which was released nationwide on February 14, 2025, has experienced enormous box office losses.

Sections 316(2) and 308(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Sections 51, 63, and 65A of the Copyright Act, Section 6AA of the Cinematograph Act, 1952 (Amendment 2023), and Sections 43 and 66 of the Information Technology Act are just a few of the legal provisions that have prompted authorities to take action.

The Cyber Cell has opened an ongoing investigation into the issue in response to the allegation. To find the culprits, authorities are keeping a careful eye on a number of internet platforms and tracking down links to unlawful distribution. The Mumbai Crime Branch is still committed to stopping online piracy and stopping any more illegal distribution of the movie.

Vicky Kaushal plays the lead in the movie, which is based on Shivaji Sawant's critically acclaimed Marathi novel of the same name. It tells the tale of Sambhaji Maharaj, the second emperor of the Maratha Empire.

Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna play important roles in the film, which was directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under the Maddock Films banner.

Chhaava is already in its sixth week at the Hindi movie office, with a 10% rise in receipts from the day before, according to the box office report. The Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna film is anticipated to make approximately Rs 3 crore based on current trends.

Chhaava has made a net total of Rs 528.55 crore in India throughout the course of its five-week run. The already hugely successful movie is now getting closer to its goal of earning over Rs 550 crore in India. Regarding her career, Vicky will next be seen in Love & War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and starring Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor.
