ABOUT FORCE 2

MOVIE RATING
Earlier, John Abraham and Nishikant Kamat had joined hands together for Force, the official remake of South film Kaakha Kaakha, which became a major box-office hit because of its action content and a powerful character ACP Yashwardhan.

Now, producer Vipul Shah is back with a sequel titled Force 2, which has been directed by Abhinay Deo. In this sequel to the 2011 ‘Force’, ACP Yashvardhan returns in a faster, more thrilling actioner, set mostly in magnificent, picturesque Budapest. But, ‘Force 2’ ends up feeling overlong and stretched.

A spy in the Indian government leaks the identities of RAW agents operating in China, which causes the assassination of three spies operating in China. When ACP Yashwardhan's childhood buddy (Freddy Daruwala), a RAW agent is also murdered by Chinese intelligence, the stoic cop decides to bulldoze his way into the investigation and find the perpetrator. Yash is teamed up with KK (Sonakshi Sinha), a RAW agent and the two board to Budapest to find the mole based on a clue discovered by Yash.

On landing in Budapest, Yash and KK stumble across the criminal Shiv Sharma (Tahir Raj Bhasin), an Indian embassy employee who leads the duo on a merry chase across Eastern Europe. Will Yash and KK finish their mission?

John Abraham has a striking screen presence. Abraham is proficient and does what he needs to. His super toned muscles are used well to get rid of the bad guys, but not even the most striking bod can rise above a lethargic script. Sonakshi tried to put in her best efforts, but her character is so poorly written. Tahir Raj Bhasin is not so physically challenging as compared to the prequel's villain Vidyut Jammwal and though he tries his best to be scary, his character will remind you of his 'Mardaani' role.

Force 2 is slicker and pacier than Force and it is glossy and visually engaging. But, it severely lacks logic. The antagonist's motive behind bumping off RAW agents is senseless enough to make you laugh.

Yash and KK believe in stating the obvious in every condition, which made us feel that the makers maybe though the viewers needed the film characters to explain what was going on the screen. When it comes to spy thrillers, Bollywood has time and again dissatisfied us and if you have seen Hollywood spy films like Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy or Argo or Spy Game, Force 2 will come across as way too amateurish with its treatment of plot and characters.

Overall, it is worthy to watch once for a couple of high-adrenaline chase sequences and a few good performances.
