Sonali Bendre opens up on being called too skinny by producers! Mon May 06th, 2024

Sonali Bendre was and still is one of the most well-liked and stunning actresses of the 1990s. The actress talked about her early career days and can be seen in the upcoming May 3 release of The Broken News, which is the second episode in the series.

Sonali disclosed that at the time, producers had requested that she put on weight, calling her excessively thin. The actress also discussed how link-up rumors were made in order for the lead couples to be mentioned in the media in the 1990s.

Sonali Bendre made a joke about how the heroes in the profession weren't always slim while she was speaking about the 90s trend during a media chat. This is the reason why every producer was always attempting to put on weight on her. “They would just tell me to 'eat, eat, eat bahut patli hai (you're too skinny).’ They wanted curves,” revealed the actress.

The Sarfarosh actress went on to say that the directors and producers of the day favored plump, curvy women with curly hair. Sonali, however, was thin and had straight black hair in contrast to all of this.

Sonali Bendre stated in a media discussion that the majority of the information circulating about her fights, hook-ups, and other incidents was untrue. That being said, the actress thinks that this is still a common tendency nowadays. She said that in order to generate excitement for their movies in the 1990s, producers would spread these kinds of tales. “These days, actors are at least asked if they would want link-up rumors with their co-stars to be floated around. During my time, we weren’t even asked and those gossips would just be out there to promote the film and the actors had no choice.”
