Varun Dhawan suggests Alia Bhatt to hike her fees for supporting equal gender pay!

Bollywood's successful Jodi Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan began their career together with Karan Johar's Student of the Year. Both of them have evidently come a long way, having a series of hit movies to their credit. After their first outing as Student of the Year, Alia and Varun have delivered box office hits with movies like Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania.

 

Now, we are well aware of the pay inequality in the Indian film industry, where a male actor is paid more as opposed to his female contemporary. But, Varun Dhawan believes that this is unfair and female actors should be paid equally. In an effort to address the issue of pay disparity in Bollywood, the actor told, “Why has it taken the trade and the industry as a whole until a Raazi to realise that Alia Bhatt is a big star. Be it Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and even 2 States were all hits and Alia Bhatt was just as responsible for its success as I was or Arjun was (Arjun Kapoor was the male lead in 2 States).”

 

Recently, Varun Dhawan talked about Alia’s body of work and how the actress deserves more than she is paid. Varun told, “I would always tell Alia, what are you doing? You take very little money. Are you stupid? Increase your price.”
