Kunal Kohli reveals about his next film RamYug!

Recently, director Kunal Kohli pronounced his next directorial endeavor on Twitter. Titled RamYug, the film is going to be the adaptation of epic Ramayana. The filmmaker posted a photograph, in what looks like a glimpse of the movie poster and posted, “#RamYug my next film. Need your Love, blessings & support.” We all know of Kunal Kohli for his romantic movies but it will be fascinating to watch him experiment with this epic period drama.

 

In a chat with a daily, Kunal Kohli revealed, “I think there is nothing more historic, progressive and modern than Ramayana. We think we are very modern and progressive because of the language we use and see in the films, but the thoughts and your way of life can never be outdated. They will always be modern.” Having pronounced the title of the movie, Kunal is yet to decide the casting of the movie.

 

RamYug has been written by Kamlesh Panday, who has been screenwriter for movies like Tezaab, Chalbaaz and Rang De Basanti. The screenwriter revealed, “I have always been waiting and wanting to write Ramayana. Writing this story is a challenge because everyone knows the story and the characters. In our country, history wasn’t recorded at the time and people still think it is mythology and not true, but it is our history.”
